Pinning, May 10th 2010
On May 10th, I was pinned as a nurse. This is something that all nursing programs do. The day leading up to the pinning was quite interesting.
I worked a half day. Came home and relaxed some. The weather started getting really bad and while I was getting ready, tornado sirens started going off. My family was wondering, "What the heck was going on" I called the school and made sure the pinning was still on, and they said it was. Before long, it started to hail, and the hail was the size of eggs. It was huge. Then a few tornadoes landed in the surrounding areas, and we watched the news to make sure we were in the clear.
About 6pm, we all headed to the school for my ceremony. I was a little nervous, but really excited, as I was going to be giving the speech. I was nominated and elected by my peers.
There ceremony went very well. Jeremy was unable to make it due to a work emergency, so my mom taped the speech. Here is the video and a few pics from the night.
Graduation May 7th!
On May 7th, I graduated from Rose State with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. I am so thrilled and happy to be a college graduate! My mom, step dad, sister and 2 brothers came from Colorado to celebrate the event. My Dad and step mom came from Florida to also celebrate. My husband was there as well as my father and mother in law, brothers and sisters in law. There ceremony did not take very long at all and we were done in about an hour or so. Here are a few pics from the event.

Today is the day!
Yesterday I took my final for school, and I passed. I was so nervous, my stomach was in knots. I took about 2 hours to take the test, but I did fine. After the test I went to pick my mom and sister up from the airport. They were patiently waiting for me. I took them home, where I walked in to a nice clean house (compliments of my husband). I had to quickly change and then head to the viewing. We stayed there for a short time and headed to the city where we met my dad and his girlfriend for dinner at the Deep Fork Grill. Dinner was so amazing!
On the way home, I called my family that was staying with me to find out if they were doing okay and to let them know I was almost home. My step-dad spilled the beans and told me that everyone was cleaning out my scrapbooking room. I almost flipped out (in a good way). When I came home, I was able to see the floor of the room and my mom said she got rid of a lot of stuff. That didn't bother me because obviously I had issues with keeping stuff. And the best part is, I will never know what got thrown out! J
After they were done, my mom surprised me with 2 new outfits. 1 I can wear to the funeral and 1 to the graduation. I was so happy, as this took mega stress of me trying to decide what I was going to wear. My mom has a gift for picking out the perfect clothes for me and they were even the right size.
This brings me to today…..
Funeral at 2pm and Graduation at 7pm.
Many emotions wrapped up in one day. Today we will be busy. I am struggling with being happy about graduating when my husband is grieving the loss of this grandfather.

Saying Goodbye
Today was a sad day for the Mason family. My husband lost his grandpa, a man whom he has been very fond of. His grandparents are like parents to him. 2 weeks ago today, we got a call that his grandpa had fallen and Jeremy needed to go pick him up off the floor. You can read about the story in my previous post. After a long battle and being in the hospital for 2 weeks, he passed away. During his stay, he came across many complications and the family was faced with many choices to make. In the end, the decisions were made easy, as they respected his wishes and made him comfortable in his last few days on earth. His grandparents are the glue that holds the family together; it is because of them that Jeremy is so close with his cousins. It is very rare that you see a family unit like theirs. I am honored to be a part of this family.
Friday, we will honor his grandma and celebrate his life.
Goodbye Grandpa Mason, you will be missed.
